Science 6 – Cambodia chat (Fri. April 8, 2011)

Today we (the Science 6 class) got to chat with Mr. G`s brother, Steve, about his life and work in Cambodia. Steve has been living and working there with his wife, Amie, for about 2.5 years. In early May they are expecting to have their first child in a hospital in Thailand.

At around 9:10 am (Friday) in Saskatchewan we skyped him from our class — it was 10:10pm (Friday) on his side of the world.

Steve showed us a powerpoint about his life there while we were able to interact with him on video

Steve showing us the temple of Angkor Wat. It was built in the early 12th century and lies 5.5km north of the modern town of Siem Reap.

Our principal, Alisa Leidl, asked Steve about the education system as well as how he and Amie are preparing for having a baby in another country.

Following the presentation many students came up to the webcam to ask Steve more questions. Here Zoe Berger is seen asking a question. Reid Armstrong is in the foreground, ready to ask his.
